How to care for and maintain Bamboo flooring
by ProSource on August 25, 2011
Bamboo flooring is a great choice if you want to get durable flooring that looks and feels just like hardwood flooring but is yet half the cost and environmentally friendly. But bamboo flooring needs a more gentler dose of care to maintain its luster and beauty. Here's a handy guide for some do's and don'ts when caring for bamboo flooring:
1.Start off with having a doormat at the entrance. It keeps the dust, bugs, sand, grit, tiny gravel out from the flooring so that external damage is kept to a minimum. Investing in good-quality area rugs also protects the floor and adds to the look and feel of the room.
2.Sweeping the floor regularly is a good habit to maintain. A dust mop or a vacuum cleaner for hardwood floors is a good choice too.
3.While spills are inevitable, be sure to mop them up immediately and allow to air dry. This helps preserve the material and prolong its life.
4.Avoid pouring water or harsh floor cleaners directly on the floor. Instead use a damp mop to clean the floor, only when it's absolutely necessary. Waxing the floor may help maintain the shine as well, but only use what the manufacturer recommends.
5.Lastly, remember that bamboo flooring, although hardwood, is easily damaged by high heels. Avoid walking over the floor when in high heels. Also, remember to trim your pet's nails to avoid scratches on the floor to maintain its natural shine.
Bamboo flooring has a good reputation when considering flooring options due to its hypoallergenic qualities, easy maintenance and sustainable harvesting practices. If you wish to see whether Bamboo flooring is a good fit for your flooring needs, please contact ProSource today.
